CRITIC'S PICK | Summer Shorts
It's June, so can Summer Shorts be far behind? City Theatre's annual celebration of bite-sized dramas and comedies moves to a new venue -- the Studio Theater at the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami -- on Thursday, where its two-part, 15-play program runs through July 8 (Shorts then moves to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts July 12-15). In Splat! by Davie-based playwright Michael McKeever, just one of the short plays, actors, from left, Irene Adjan, Steve Trovillion and Antonio Amadeo play pint-size residents of Oz who are none too pleased that they have to clean up the mess made by a certain little girl from Kansas. Program A of Summer Shorts will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday; Program B is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $37 for each part, with a $15 on-site dining option (in Broward, dining option is $20, Saturday only). There are discounts for students, seniors and groups. The gala Carnival Center opening night on June 9 is $120 per person, and it includes both programs, a special meal and a silent auction. For more information, visit www.citytheatre.com.
